Makeup artist Lottie keyed 5 shows for Make Up For Ever in Miami as part of Mercedes Benz Swim Week
A Group Collective show
Lottie: “The looks are all sweat and humidity proof for Miami weather by using all the Aqua line products from Make Up For Ever. It’s different doing shows here vs NY or Milan. The models need full body makeup and the skin finish is beachy, glowy and bronzed. My shows have a lot of smoldering eyes, wing lined eyes and some nice color pops. My favorite part is working with the designers one on one to create the look for the show. It’s always so great to see their excitement when it all comes together for them,”
On working in Miami: “Miami is always a great challenge. The weather really makes an impact on how the makeup looks, lasts and goes with the swimwear. Designers tend to want a full on glamorous look for their collection here which is quite different from NY. My schedule is pretty full. Working tests in the morning and afternoons with small breaks for lunch before the evening shows. Running around in 90 degree weather with crazy humidity has its own challenges too! The process is a little different from NY in that only two of the looks had makeup tests prior to the shows. The others were approved based solely on face charts and Wildfox was decided at the show!”
On the highlight of the week: “Although probably the highest backstage stress and chaos, Wildfox was probably my favorite because the look was very much me, in my element. I’ve never in all my runway experience seen models have as much fun doing a show. It was amazing energy backstage. Mara Hoffman is always another favorite. I also work her show in NY and she has a very strong branded look with beautiful designs,”
On returning home: “I CANT WAIT to be back in NY and very much looking forward to NYFW and Europe shows!”
