Linda Hay

Linda Hay is one of the most valued makeup artists in fashion today, not only for her down-to-earth personality and deep commitment to her craft, but for her uncanny ability to highlight what is unique and different about every face she touches. Her distinctive technique allows her subject’s natural beauty and character to emerge. This quality has made her truly indispensable to the most celebrated photographers and designers in the world.

Originally from Wales, Linda and her family moved to Sydney, Australia when she was a teenager. She earned a degree from Sydney College of Visual Arts in sculpture and photography, and then moved to London to pursue a career as a photographer. After two years working as a photographer's assistant, she decided to turn her talents to makeup. A painter since childhood, she had a deep fascination with color, texture, and technique. To finance her dream, Linda took the advice of friends, colleagues, and several agents and worked as a fashion model for the next two years in London and Sydney as she fine-tuned her skills as a makeup artist. Finally, she moved to New York City, where her career took off immediately.

Today she is in constant demand by legendary photographers like Peter Lindbergh, Arthur Elgort, Walter Chin, Regan Cameron, Sante D'Orazio, and Patric Shaw. Her work has appeared in W, Italian Vogue, L'Uomo Vogue, Glamour, Allure, and Jane. Her advertising work includes major campaigns for L'Oréal, Neutrogena, Oil of Olay, Wonderbra, Ann Taylor, Nautica, Tommy Hilfiger, and Victoria's Secret.

Linda lives in New York City with her two sons. When she is not jetting to Stockholm, St. Barths or Sardinia, she is happiest at her weekend home in East Hampton, gardening, cooking, and spending time on the beach with her family. Linda’s ability to balance her explosive career with her love of these simple pleasures has earned her unparalleled success in the last several years, and all but guarantees even greater recognition in those to come.
