Versatility, skill, and an impeccable eye for detail have made Casey Herman a go-to manicurist in the fashion industry.
Casey developed a love of nail art as a teenager, but pursued a traditional education earning her MA in psychology. After moving to NYC she built a career as a presentations specialist for companies such as Bank of America and Oracle. In 2008, a friend in the fashion industry, who knew of her nail interest, gave her the opportunity of a lifetime; an editorial shoot with Marie Claire in Tulum, Mexico. This experience set into motion pursuing her passion. While still working in the corporate world she attended beauty school and earned her manicure license. In 2012, Casey made the leap into full-time editorial manicurist work.
As a manicurist, Casey’s inspiration for nail designs runs the gamut from street art to esoteric theories. With her background in psychology she has the ability to delineate nebulous concepts and effectively communicate the desired reality. Her passion for nails and affable nature makes her an asset on any set. Casey’s ability to comprehend the vision of the story as well as contribute her own ideas has led to beautiful collaborations with photographers such as Peter Lindbergh, Camilla Akrans, Sebastian Kim, Tom Munro, Paola Kudacki, and Mario Sorrenti. Her work can be seen on the covers of Vogue Espana, Vogue Russia, Elle, W Korea, and Marie Claire.
