Inspired by creative energy and self-expression, Christine Cherbonnier brings a singular perspective to her role as a makeup artist. Her editorial work includes covers of Interview, W, as well as multiple international editions of Vogue. She is Yoko Ono’s personal makeup artist and has contributed to numerous pieces and installations of Ms. Ono’s at MOMA.
Christine has worked with Craig McDean, Karl Templer, and legendary photographer Kishin Shinoyama, among other industry luminaries. She is known for her focused approach, creative skills, and true love of bringing the transformative powers of makeup to life. She believes strongly in the concept of Duende, authentic artistic expression from within, and strives to apply this to her work.
Christine was born in the hill country of Texas and raised in Austin. She lived in Hawaii, Seattle and Holland before moving to New York to pursue her career as a makeup artist. She loves music (Nina Hagen, Siouxie Sioux, David Bowie, and The Melvins are favorites), and the true story that she once had the surreal honor of doing her idol Nick Cave’s makeup. Dreams do come true.
